What should I expect from Kate Gardiner Photography?
My goal as a photographer is to arrive, say hello and then melt into your wedding. I am first and foremost a photojournalist and create images of your wedding day as I would for any other story. Even the portraits of you and your fiancé are less posed and more guided in order to capture the natural chemistry between you.
Planning is so important in order to have a relaxed and carefree wedding. Typically the cocktail hour of your wedding is the time reserved for family portraits as well as the bridal party and the couple alone. We work together with you or with your wedding planner to have a timeline in place so that you get all of the photos that are important to you and your family without derailing your reception. For couples with large families we sometimes suggest doing some of the family photos before your ceremony.
What is a “first look”?
For couples with large families or a tight wedding schedule we suggest doing a “first look”. We orchestrate a moment usually an hour before your ceremony where you and your fiancé see each other dressed to the “9’s”. This is an amazing moment when a groom sees his bride for the first time and so tough to capture during the actual ceremony. If you are okay with bucking tradition and seeing each other before the ceremony, this might be a good idea for you.
We are really into photography and want to make it a big part of our day. What do you suggest we do in order to really incorporate it beyond your photojournalism?
There are lots of ways to do this but here are a couple of our favorites:
Plan as part of your wedding day an extended portrait session with you, your fiancé and bridal party on the wedding day. Renting a limo is perfect for this. We predetermine awesome locations (especially in downtown St. Augustine) to hit and just have fun! It does require either a 2 hour break in between your ceremony and reception or plan for everyone to be ready two hours before your ceremony to do it justice.
Add our Snap Happy Photo Booth to your wedding package! We set up our steel-framed 8ftx8ft structure that has a camera triggered by a foot pedal that your guests use to make hilarity! It is amazing what a fake mustache and a feather boa brings out in people. Plus it is a great way to make sure you get a photo of everyone at your wedding especially if they are not big dancers. The images then are included in your online proofing gallery.
Are my images archived?
We store your images on our hard drives for two years following your wedding. We do also have a cloud-based backup archive where your images will also be permanently stored in case of disaster.
What forms of payment do you accept and can I do a payment plan?
We accept all major credit cards as well as personal check. We do offer payment plans however the balance must be paid in full 30 days before your event.
Do you offer Digital Downloads from our wedding?
Yes! All of our wedding packages include Hi-Resolution Digital Downloads directly from your online proofing gallery. This includes print permission for personal use. This means you may download your images and take them to the lab of your choice in order to print photos for your wall or for your family and friends. There are also websized versions that are lightly marked with our logo in the corner for use on online. We ask that only these versions are used online in order to protect our copyright and to deter your likeness from being used beyond your control.
How do I reserve my wedding date?
A signed contract and non-refundable retainer of $1,000 is due at the time of booking to reserve your date. The $1,000 is applied to your balance with the remainder due 30 days before your event.
Is there sales tax?
The state of Florida requires that I charge sales tax of 6.5%. This is not included in the prices quoted on this site.
When are my pictures ready following my wedding?
Images will be posted on your online gallery 4-6 weeks following your wedding. Your images will be available for viewing at the online gallery for 90 days following release.
What albums options do you offer?
Our favorite albums are collage style flushmount albums from Zookbinders that have a huge selection of covers including leather and photo hard covers. We do custom design for each couple that we work on together. You may chose which images appear in your album, but we include a folder of our favorites in order to help you in the selection process.
